What You Taught Me

Being with you for those two years taught me what "I love you1" should really mean

"because I love you" should mean "I care about you" instead of what you showed me

"because I love you" should mean "I trust you" and not controlling me 

"because I love you" should mean "you're important" and not you're worthless

"because I love you" should mean "I hate fighting with you" 

but that's how you got what you wanted

"because I love you" should mean "you are my world" instead of I want you out of it

"because I love you" should mean "we're in this together" 

but you loved making me feel like the loneliest girl

Because I love you was the reason I stayed

But because I love myself is the reason I left
