Whatever I've Got
There is a silly old question that is often thrown about
If you were stuck out there forever what couldn’t you live without?
Perhaps food or drink,
Something blue or something pink
Would you miss your mother or you wife
Or would you be happy with a new life
All alone?
A whole island as your home?
If I were to answer such an inquiry
I would give you my answer so clearly
My books, my books are what I love
Filled with words that seemed to come from above
In them are found many things, not just one
And not the least among them is the fun
You find friends and family that you can shape on your own
But I suppose without real people life’s song would be a drone
And so, after some thought
I guess I’ll take whatever I’ve got.
