With the press of a button

I light up the screen.

The blank page stares back at me

Where are the words I wish to see?

I reluctantly wait

Only ghostly whispers greet.

Where are you?

Can there be a word of goodbye

If you decide to leave?

Don't make me stay

Don't make me linger.

In this void where no light exists

All thoughts of abandoning you grows.

Which pain is greater?

Having you by my side

But receiving nothing

Or letting you go

And feeling the hollows of my heart?

Let it all pass though 

When the screen is filled.

Let insecurities fade away

As the words you send light up my world.

Forgive and forget is what I'll try to do

Because from the beginning there was nothing to lose.
