before what's left is gone

the thick

black

carbon cloud

is looming on the horizon line

it's tainted by the

Human Stain

as it rains down

Poland Springs

Twinkies

Shell

Gasoline and Polyvinyl Chloride

drip

     drip

          drip

down each tar-coated bough

(or at least the few that are left)

the amazon is a tomb

we've decluttered

made room

Humanity needs to thrive

we need Paper!

so get rid of what's alive

we forgot about the others

so it didn't matter much

when they "went away"

one by one

the lions

     the tigers

          the bears

oh my!

what have we done?

soon it will be us

soon

when the land is barren and

the oceans bear our waste and

our Cities crumple and

Skyscrapers scrape the ground

as they

clatter

     clang

          collapse

we will suffer the same fate

and vines of green will

sprout from our Decay

growing only once we have fallen

the Doomsday clock

is ticking

and the hands are raised

in vengeance

ready to chime

The End

and snatch away

our chance

tick

     tock

          tick

if only a plan could stick

it's time to right our wrongs

before what's left is gone
