When?
The revolution was not televised.
It will not be found in a tweet or an updated status.
But do you know your status, the rights that our ancestors longed for, fought for and dreamed for?
The blood that was shed for ignorance based on societies views on color.
But if we fought for democracy against England years ago, why can’t we all be free?
Is freedom just a novelty?
All the while the 50 year-old dream still lingers quietly, but not silently as we still battle hatred in speech and archaic voting laws.
Rosa sat, too many died, as our ancestors marched for freedom, to belong in the place that they were forced to call home.
Yet, we are still singing “we shall overcome” .
When will that someday be today?
When will our differences cease so that we can come together in peace.
