When All Else Fails; I Write.

I think of all the feelings swirling around my head.

All the emotions bombarding my thoughts.

To find solace is impossible,

Love is even farther beyond my reach.

My eyes no longer hold tears,

they vacantly stare straight ahead into the darkness.

Past the memories, past the broken pieces of today, past the tainted tomorrow.

They are so desperately searching for the sunlight.

My skin longs for warmth,

My lips desire to curl into a smile.

But my heart is frozen.

It no longer pumps blood through my body.

My icy fingers shake as my head throbs.

The knots in my stomach grow like vines into my chest.

My breathing is constricted by the words I've been forced to swallow.

My ears bleed from the lies I've been told.

Their voices haunt me.

They echo and resonate through every fiber of my being.

Constantly reminding me of what will never be.

Each word like a dagger sinking deeper into me.

What a fool I've been.

But my words, oh my words,

They can never take from me.

It is in the safety of my own paper and pen where I seek my revenge.

Between these straight lines lay the erratic penmanship of my strength.

My voice will not go unheard.
