since when did love become a sin

when i was little my heart was so full of love

i loved everything and everyone

i was kind to all and always cared

but now that i'm older the love that i feel has turned itself around

and made me hate myself

i was ten when i found out what being gay was

but was told that it was wrong

i was told it was a sin

i was told that it wasn’t allowed

so when i thought i liked a girl

i pushed those feelings down

i tried my hardest

to throw them away

but they kept getting stronger

each and every day

i dated a boy

but it didn’t feel right

i thought to myself well if im bi

i could possibly still have “a normal life”

i tried to ignore the feelings that were inside

but they were too strong

and i didn’t want to hide

i no longer push the feelings away

i've accepted them

but at what cost

i'm out to all my friends

and random strangers too

but my family

no

i don’t know what they’ll do

will they be happy

i'm not sure

will they accept me

i have no clue

what will my church members say

will they laugh

or will they cry

will they say they love me

or say that i should die

why was i made this way

and can i make it stop

no

sadly i cannot

i’ve tried

i’ve prayed to my God above

to take these feelings away from me

to strip me of my love

but that's the thing

the love i feel is what makes me who i am

so when did loving someone become a sin
