When Does it End?

In the new year

there is much to change

we must start somewhere

so why not start

with the wars today

that our leaders promised

would end tomorrow.

Why don't we start

by telling people

that their beliefs

are okay

but that innocent lives

need not be taken

to make a point

that's already made.

I understand

there is no way

to split a country

without aruguments to start

but isn't compromise

the best way

to end a war

that goes on today?

Instead of missiles

or nuclear attacks

why not settle the

dispute

in a calm way

without endangering the lives of the many

to saves the lives of a few?

Why end the war

tomorrow

when it's ending lives

today?

Why end the war

the next new year

when the new year

is already here?
