When he's drunk

Frustration and anger so deep it's in your bones
boiling over, threatening to show
my brother tells me not to hate
to forgive and forget, and not retaliate!
Don't hate him cause he drinks
I try not, I hide it, I push the anger down
but every time he open his mouth it's a rebound
He's trying to make mom feel like a piece of shit
how do you hold it in
how does one not hate?
Every inconsiderate thing he's said
makes me wanna take a gun to his head!
So what he hasn't drank in a couple days,
now all the sudden he deserves our praise?
No longer pushing it down, not caring if it shows
next time he says a thing, I might just blow.
I yell, say I hate him, that im never coming back
he just laughs, says he knows I'll be back!
Years pass, my bro's and I are becoming great
dad's getting easier to tolerate.
Though now I know
don't hold it in, don't push it down, let it show!
When you let your anger show
when you let them know,
it'll leave room for you both to grow.
Just because my anger has disipated
don't assume respect or kindness has been initiated!
