When I asked why he stays.

When I asked him why he made me coffee first thing in the morning
And stayed up with me on nights that sleep was the enemy
He would always say the same thing.
Because I love you.
When I asked how he dealt with my moods
Or my constant self criticism
He said it's easy
Because I love you.
When I look like a mess and can't even muster a conversation
He never seems to mind.
He treats me with respect with the kind of love everyone deserves.
And when I asked him why he doesn't just leave
He said don't you see? I could never leave. I can't abandon the only person to make the stars shine and give the music meaning again.
I won't ever leave.
And when I asked why
He said.
Because I love you.
