When I Dream

I stood searching in a field one day

To see if I could find you

But I’m far too far away from there–

So much obstructs my view

Though this state is mostly flat

More than twenty miles I cannot see,

And much more than twenty miles

Separates you from me

Although… distance, wretched distance

However far it may be

Cannot truly isolate us from one another,

For love connects you and me

You are constant in my mind–

How I wish you were more near,

But when I close my eyes and dream

I see you perfectly clear
