When I grow up

When asked what I am going to do when I grow up

I have a spitfire answer

I am going to become an oil & gas lawyer

When asked how I am going to get there

I can tell you my calculated steps:

I am going to graduate undergrad

Join the military

Go to law school

Somehow join a firm

When asked what my dream job is,

I go down a slightly different path

One, where I don’t know how I would get there

But if I could find a way

I know I would have an endless passion for my work

When I think about my dream job

I picture an international job

Working as an international lawyer

Working with issues of human rights

International corporations

Transational issues

Feeling like I have an impact on something bigger

When I am asked what my dream job is

There’s not spitfire answer

No detailed plan

But there’s a dream

To return to my college

And inspire someone the way I was inspired

I know what my dream is

Reality, is finding the way to get there.
