When I Knew...

When was the moment I realized I was an adult

Maybe when I no longer could place the blame and say it was someone else’s fault

Or maybe it was when I could mentally make sense out of certain childhood trauma

Or maybe it was when I became less tolerant of BS family drama

Or maybe it was my capacity to understand other people’s point of view even if they aren’t in agreement of my own.

Or maybe when my mind was so preoccupied with overwhelming responsibilities and obligations it became harder to pick up the phone

Or maybe it was when I knew I had to take initiative even if no one asked me to because it was the right thing to do

When, where, or how it happens I can’t pinpoint it

But one day I just  knew…
