When I Saw You

From the first time I met you I knew it was love.

It was like you were made for me from the heavens above.

True love is so hard to find,

But at that moment I knew our future was intertwined.

I saw you chasing my demons away.

You picking up my broken pieces every day.

I saw myself fighting your battles and you mine.

You knew what I really meant when I said  “I’m fine.”

I saw myself wanting to be a better person with you as the cause.

And even when I failed you were always there giving me a round of applause.

I saw my reflection in your eyes,

With trust and admiration and sparkling like fireflies.

I saw you change my “I think” to “I know”

Because when I’m with you my confidence grows.

And now as I stand on this alter waiting to say “I do”

All you need to know is because I love, I’ll always value the true you.
