When I Wake Up

In the morning I wake up, thank God and brush my teeth. Every day I think to myself, “Why am I not where I want to be?” I am a jack of all trades. I do hair, nails, eyebrows, I babysit, I cook, I clean, I sew, I tutor, I am a couples’ counselor, I am an interior decorator, And I still dream. I dream to be an inspiring physical therapist. I am working to drive myself to my ultimate goal; The sites along the road are very enticing. These sites lure you in like the intoxicating scent of lotus. Distracting me from the goal ahead are only the distractions I allow. No more will I allow a cute face to persuade me to stay when I need to go. No more will I allow fear to drive me in the wrong direction. One more “No more!” No more will I let my ambition stay bottled inside, when releasing it feels so good. It is much easier said than done, but as each day passes and I still have the opportunity To wake up, thank God, and brush my teeth I will try! My ambition is strong and my will is stronger. I am blessed with various natural talents, So why let them be wasted. Although they may not say it, Many people do not believe in my success. None of that matters because no one can decide my outcome, But myself. And as I struggle no one will know my exact path to success, But God. With my ambition and my faith I will succeed. So when I, one day, awake I will thank God and brush my teeth And be proud of how far I have come.
