When I was alone
When I was alone with nowhere to go,
with the blue sky above and the hot sand below,
I thought of the things I knew that I missed,
So I sat myself down and scratched out a list.
Family of course but one name shone above,
the name of that man, the one that I love.
How I wish you were here, to be in your arm,
Safe and protected from all that do harm.
I'm counting the days that I'm here all alone,
while the sun beats down hard and my flesh turns to bone.
The sun's going down now, I'm ready to sleep
The stars began shining as I started to weep.
Then out in the distance I saw a soft light appear
It was growing and blinking while the small ship came near.
I waved and they saw me to my great delight,
They brought me back to you and watched us unite.
I ran right up to you and held you so tight,
We turned and we thanked them and told them goodnight.
