When I Was Growing Up

When I was growing up people told me I was pretty. It made me feel good because I always enjoyed compliments.

When I was growing up my brother and sister would always hit me. It made me feel weak because they had always won.

When I was growing up I would try and act like an adult by playing house because I always wanted to feel older.

When I was growing up I was proud of myself because I always stayed strong even when I should appear weak.

When I was growing up I liked to sing because it made me feel worthy.

When I was growing up I discovered the truth.

When I was growing up, I felt ashamed when I cut myself because everyone can now see my scars.

When I was growing up I felt special when I got an A.

When I was growing up I promised myself that I would always be true to myself because I am all that I have.

When I was growing up the hardest part was looking into the mirror because I had to face the truth.
