When I was a Little Girl
All the things in the sky
Made me want to fly
I didn’t worry about anything
Because I was just being
I would go through the day
And just play my way
Everyone was my friend
Because there were no enemies then
My worries revolved around the playground
And the ice cream truck made the most beautiful sound
I was queen of everything
Especially the little green swing
I didn’t like boys
Because they stole all my toys
I loved school
Back then when we all thought it was cool
I would cry when I lost my doll
And break down in the middle of the mall
I pretended I was all grown-up
And wanted a big girl cup
I wouldn’t sleep by myself
Scared of the monsters behind my shelf
I would fall down
Terrified of the clown
I was innocent and pure
Although I wasn’t sure
Without a care in the world
When I was a little girl
