When I Was Young

When I Was Young

By: Jack Ryan

When I was young,

I woke on Christmas morn

Hoping for a new toy,

a skateboard,

maybe a unicorn.

But I opened the box

and what did I find,

but 3 t-shirts and a new pair of socks.

I was furious,

"Where are the beyblades?"

I said

trying not to look mad

with a face full of red.

All my mother replied with was

"I thought you'd like these instead."

Flash forward 8 years

now when I see a box of clothes

I am exited and joyous

not filled with tears.

You see, as one grows older

their tastes in everything can be altered

one day you love something

the next day that love can be haltered.
