When I Write

When I can’t make the words come out of my mouth, I write

When I am too frustrated to speak or sing, I write

When I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, I write

When I need to think before I speak, I write

When I write, I hear a song in my mind

One without any sound at all

A song that puts spice on my tongue

I listen and see colors unimaginable

Instead of bursting out in fury, I write furiously

Instead of drowning myself in tears, I write water into my work

Instead of chaining myself with stress, I unlock my mind to write

Instead of hiding from the world, I release the world inside of me

When I write, I am at peace

With the world

With the struggles

With myself

For that, I write
