When Love Begins

I fell in love with the winter, how the snowflakes landed perfectly on your eyelashes, and how your warm cheeks pressed against mine with every hug goodbye. The way your lips took away my breath while you whispered something sweet in my ear, sending shivers up my spine. Everyday with you was like a month of Sunday mornings with my favorite cereal and weekend cartoons. That same winter, I fell in love with that bus stop by your house, and the way you held my hand as I walked away, until our arms couldn't reach each other anymore The bus ride home from your house made me remember what Monday mornings feel like. Somewhere in between falling in love with our midnight conversations that were spoken through hushed tones and interrupted by the creaky floors of the room above, and feeling the warmness of your skin as you slept next to me, I realized, I am in love with the gentleness of your words, and the feel of your existence. But I am not in love with you.
