When Pen and Paper Met

There once was a child.

She was weak and rather mild.

Unsure of what to do she picked up pen and paper,

And started her written caper.

Perhaps none will ever know,

Perhaps she’ll never grow,

But when pen and paper met,

That shy girl had found her outlet.

With each written word,

The walls of loneliness she punctured.

She uttered each phonetic entity,

And soon her writings were the key.

Feelings expressed, emboldened choices made,

She was one shy girl remade.

Poetry may seem tedious to you,

But to her? This is how her shyness she outgrew.
