When Porter and I Talk this is what Occurs

Death by fire connotes deep passion or emotion. Burning at the stake was reserved for heretics, Christians, sorcerers. Those who hold to their beliefs, or brave all danger for the sake of others. But by the same token, fire is also a quick and fading thing. It burns, bright and beautiful, then is gone. But Ice grows slowly, gradually, dripping and solidifying, from a simple clear drop, to a sculpture, a mirror, a chandelier. Perhaps this is representative of how those who die by each are remembered. Those whose demise is fire -the flaming heretics, the blazing magicians- went down in an inferno, dramatic and theatrical. Though They were remembered for the show they put on, their bodies are dust. In the end, their memory fades like the flame which quenched their life spirit. In contrast, those who die by ice die slowly, quietly, gradually. They are the forgotten ones of the earth, the quiet explorers, the patient trailblazers through the arctic. But their bodies, their faces, their individual personalities are preserved, and brought down through the generations. Ice, the quiet killer, brings with it a preservation of memory that the fire, impatient and passionate, can never pass on.
