when the shots rang out
When the shots rang out
When the caged bird fled
When the hope within me was erased
When the solemn sounds of silence cried
When the soft tears burned
When the sound of your voice dissipated into thin air
When the heart within me stopped beating
When the life within me came crashing down
When the sleepless nights annihilated my soul
When the news finally reached me
When were you going to tell me that you were dead?
When were you going to tell me you were an angel?
When were you going to help me understand?
You were going to tell me, that day
When the shots rang out
