When thoughts weren't enough

When thoughts weren't enough,
I turned to you.
When no one would listen,
I turned to you.
When no one understood,
what my heart has been through
I'd open this book,
and I'd write to you.
When thoughts weren't enough,
you listened like a crowd.
Like millions of people,
who understood the sound
Of heartbreak, of disaster,
of stress, of laughter.
When thoughts weren't enough,
you always listened.
That is why I write
to a crowd so silent.
