When In Time Did I?

Yes, I am young.

Yes, I am old.

But, tell me, when?

When did your heart turn cold?

Since when has my intelligence,

my sexuality,

my appearance,

my beliefs,

my ideals,

my soul

ever determined my future?

Since when has it been all or nothing?

Black or white?

Since when has grey disappeared?

Just when did it become acceptable

for you, my dear teacher

to tell me who is worthy

and who is not?

Why can you tell me

that I should be reading this

and not that?

When did it become

ordinary

for you to treat me as

a child?

To treat me

as if I knew absolutely nothing?

To treat me

like I am

beneath you?

When did I become

the filth,

the dirt

under your dainty,

perfectly manicured

toes?
