When We Were Us

There was a time you called me home,

When all you needed was my tone,

I held your storms, you kept my fears,

We traded secrets, we traded years.

Now strangers pass you on the street,

And I'm a name you never speak

But in my chest, we never died -

A part of me you still reside.

We're not the same, we're not the same -

But saying so still burns my name.

I miss the 'us' we used to be,

A quiet ache inside of me.
