When Will I?

When will I be able to wear shorts to school

Without being harassed, touched, and stared at?

When will I be able to walk at night

Across the street, across town

Without being scared of every shadow?

When will the innuendos stop?

The looks, the smirks, the giggles

When I say an innocent sentence disappear?

When will "boys will be boys" and "that time of the month"

Stop being an excuse for bad behavior, disrespect,

And sheer idiocracy?

When will I?

I will when I teach my children to respect

Men, women, children, and

Everyone.
