When Words Are Weapons

It’s not your words that hurt me but mine from your lips

Words of confirmation that fill the emptiness

That sits in the place that my hope once lay

That I fight to defeat every day

But I can’t fight forever and from this I can’t hide

As you break my shield from the inside

When words are weapons, you’ve no clue the power you wield

Reopening wounds that I’d thought were healed

When words are weapons I’m far too easy to break

But please continue to kick me, see how much I can take
