When You Can't Fix It

If you've ever tried to stitch together the remains of torn fabric

If you've ever tried to complete a puzzle with pieces that just don't fit together

Then you know how hard it is to fix something that's broken

You can try to pick up the shattered remains and put them together

You can try and try and try until you're just too exhausted to try anymore

Eventually you realize that all this trying is getting you absolutely nowhere

No matter what you do, you can never restore the broken pieces to what they once were

And you might think that you can create something new out of those shattered remains

But you can't seem to turn the brokenness into beauty

Only one person can do that

Unfortunately, sometimes you have to wait a while for that one person

So you keep trying and trying and trying to fix the mess yourself

You eventually realize that you're getting nowhere

You hate that you have no choice but to stop trying and wait for that one person

But you have to stop trying to fix something that's beyond your ability to repair

Read Slammed by Colleen Hoover if you want to know where my username comes from...and seriously it's an amazing book. It's what inspired me to start writing poetry.
