When you forget

Do you know what happens when you forget?

Your tongue breaks the bondage you promised to uphold.

Do you know what happends when you pretend?

Your mind goes fuzzy, trying to unhinge from the horrors of the world.

When you sit down and don’t take a stand, history repeats itself.

The toasted blood of the earth sheds its secrets. It replays its recording over and over until its heartbeat is rapid and its fists are down.

Do you know what happens when you ignore the signs?

You are hiding behind a cloak, rusty and unappealing. But one day, the cloak will turn into a dress. And that dress will morph into the fabric you lay on your own doorstep.

Do you what happens when you forget?

The heartbeats of young children suddenly freeze. The breaths of our uncles melt into the wind. The milk of our mothers undo into blood.

When you ignore the warnings instilled by the mouths of others, you are ignoring bloodshed. Tongues being ripped from mouths, lungs being squeezed from bodies.

Do you know what happens when you choose to neglect?

Your carelessness shields you at the expense of your cousins.

Your soul becomes wrapped in suppressed understanding. You mind torments yourself with dying wishes and heartache, but nothing the ignorant undergoes is compared to the utter destruction occupying an innocent’s mind.

The last to stand is the first to die. The first to die is the first to stand.

No one can tame the evil that lurks in the world. No one person can escape the grasp of cold hands. But together… we stand a chance.

Do you know what happens when you act a part the world begs you not to take?

The earth your feet step on seeps in cruelty.

Do you know what happens when you forget a promise?

Do you know what happens when you lock yourself in your comfort? You sentence your friends to injustice and evil.

Do you know what happens when you forget?

Do you know what happens when you choose to forget?

Do you know what happens when you sleep instead of stand?

I know what happens.

So do they, but maybe the screams and cries of millions isn’t enough for you.

I don’t want to live anymore, not in this hell we call home. Not with these animals well call humans.

Let death be kind, and one day, let people be kinder.
