When You Loved Me
When you loved me,
We ruled the world.
A king and his queen,
Our love was unfurled.
But I was no queen;
I was your slave.
I was too friendly,
Not what you would crave.
I watched as you hurt me.
I was too afraid.
But you found someone else,
And my choice was made.
When you loved me,
You broke my heart, too,
But with all of my pieces,
I still love you.
