When you pluck a flower


When you pluck a flower fom the ground, be aware of what you have done.

You are overcome by the urge to steal it from all other passersby-

Oblivious to how much the flower wishes to be under the sun.

No,

To you the flower is going to survive being held in your damp, sweaty hand

And once the stem begins to blacken,

It is put into water as a desperate attempt to keep the flower just a little longer

Selfish! The flower shouldn't have been plucked, now it can never stand

And all that the flowers have left is the stem

Of a flower that could have been
