Whenever I put my pen to paper

When I put my pen to paper

I use my pen to define my true self

myself who is lost

myself who I find

when my pen meets paper

when words create prose

who knows I may one day be a pro

I sit here and define all these pros and cons

I make my convictions into words

My actions action

Reaction into thought

When I put my pen to paper

I feel whole

Of one mind

Not cracked or broken

Not created but made

Not given but chosen

Not trusted but accepted

Not respected but considered

When I put my pen to paper

When words are my only solace

I feel less alone

Less broken less cracked

When I put my pen to paper

When words are my only solace

When tears work no more

When anger drives my pen

I am me

I am myself

I am my own person

whenever I put my Godamn pen to paper
