Where Are They Now?

Where are they now, the Gods of Greek lore?

Are they sitting in the clouds, watching the world unfold?

No.

Though they remain unseen, their work is not done.

For they fight to hold on to a dying world.

Zues sits atop the sky

Batting away at the waste from factories polutting the air.

Toxins and chemicals choke the sky, and he cannot breathe.

The sky is no longer blue.

There is just too much.

Poseidon roams the beaches and oceans.

He picks up trash littering the sands

And cradles the creatures caught in plastic webs.

He smiles at the efforts of those who help, but it is a woeful one.

It is still not enough.

Hades sits in his domain.

At a loss for what to do with all the souls pouring in

From drinking, smoking, and violence.

His head buried in his hands, he wonders why they poison themselves so.

There are so many.

Hope seems lost for the Gods of Greek lore.

But they carry on relentlessly, fueled by thoughts of better days.
