It was dark, the road was wet
where are you was all it read
you check your phone like it’s no big deal
not seeing the danger in the nearby field
the deer runs out and you try to swerve
not knowing it would soon get worse
you lose control around the curve
causing the oncoming car to swerve
you both collide and hit the ditch
screams of terror from nearby lips
the lights flash and the sirens blare
signaling the help that would soon be there
you start to relax and close your eyes
feeling the calmness deep inside
metal is cut and your name is called
but you cannot say anything at all
now I sit here on this dreary day
wishing this would all go away
a tear escapes my eye
as I quietly say goodbye
so please please please make it known
if you are driving leave your phone alone
I love you guys so so much
That’s why I will make a fuss
Because I don’t want to lose another friend
Over something as stupid as a text message
Where are you was all it read
And now my lifelong love is dead
