Where Did We Go Wrong?

Where did we go wrong?

When did we go from laughing and joking

To screaming and crying?

And when did we go from smiling

To thinking about dying?

When did we go from saving lives

To killing them before they're born?

And when did we decide to fight

Instead of fixing what was torn?

When did we go from playing with wooden swords

To playing with razors and rope?

And when did we go from dreaming happy thoughts

To using drugs and spirits to cope?

When did we go from learning our ABC's

To waking up every morning in a new bed?

And when did we go from dancing and singing

To having evil thoughts fill our head?

When did we go from loving each other

To hating ourselves?

And when did we go from being true

To leaving all that we are on the shelf?
