Where Do I Go?

So your eyes are open
Your heart is beating
And the world is now in existence
Your knowledge is innocent
Your thoughts consist of
      Ma-ma,
      Da-da,
      Hi
      Bye
     Brother
      Sissy
      Dog?
      No, toy
Your words mumble
Your legs stumble
Your hands sway
And you go, go, go
But where?

You’re now fairly experienced
You walk with confidence
You talk with
And sometimes without your wits
You share some truth
You shy a lie
You like a boy
You cross your heart and hope to die---more than a thousand times
And your thoughts consist of
     Friends,
     Family?
     Him.
     Endless wishes
    Thoughts on first kisses?
    And hushed kept secrets
And your world is settled
And everything is fine
And you are happy
And your memories are bountiful
And you go, go, go
Or maybe you don’t go?
Because everything is ideal
So you don’t go!

But now you’re older
Almost out the door
You lust for more
And more
But hold back on those eager desires
Perhaps you fear for more?
You grow anxious
And weary
You sit in contemplation
And your thoughts consist of
      Goodbyes
      New hellos
      Tears
      Hugs
      A future
      Success
      Or failure?
Your legs stumble
Your heart skips
Your body trembles
As you grab hold of your future
You smile
You laugh
You cry
You give hugs
You whisper goodbye
And you go, go, go
But where do you go?
Off to a new life
Left to explore the big, bad---good? World
Your eyes are open
And the world is now in existence
Your mind is blurred
And your thoughts consist of
     Go, go, go
But where do you go?
Where do I go?
Left with endless possibilities
You turn your head
And wave goodbye
As you go on to “contribute your verse.”
