Where Do I Start

I picked up the newspaper this morning and it said the world was in a mess

Violence in our communities and cities presents a real test

I am really puzzled as to how this all came about

Perhaps you will answer me softly and not have to shout

We stopped teaching our children about the God above

Depending on their video games to to teach them and show them love.

Moma don't cook any more and give me fast food instead

It taste great to me but I wound up dead

Everyone is in a rush it seems to go nowhere

Slow down a minute and enjoy the fresh air.

Teach our children respect and always keep them learning

Encourage them to grow and keep the fire burning.

Give them a good education to inspire love and hope

Give them all the tools they need in these troubled times to cope.

I was inspired to write this poem because of the trying times in our society. WE are becoming more uncivilized as opposed to civilized. Dr BF Skinner once said, give me a child from birth and I will make him anything you want him to be. I feel the key is to teach children love and instill discipline and morals early.

Devon Mollison
