Where Do We Go?

I have always wondered what it would be like to die

In a flash have the long tone of the machine be my exit melody

This curiosity is not stemmed from self hatred

But wonder

We hear of glowy gates and bright lights and black silence

But what is the truth?

Maybe it is meant to be a mystery to spread hope or fear

But

Does it spill into my body like a wave?

Gently dripping darkness over me softly

Until my skin dissolves and becomes a part of space

Another star in the galaxy

To burn

To be wished upon

Or

Is it cruel

Does it crash into my bones

Breaking every piece at once

Liquefying every thought

Every fragment of my mind

Or

Is it a fire

Creeping up my torso

Turning everything I am or ever was into ash

Into a pile

To be caught by the wind

Tossed around the world

But

I often imagine dying as a tunnel

But instead of the light that I run towards being death

It is life

It is where I want to be

But as hard as I crawl

I will never reach the end

It closes too fast

And I am left

Alone

In darkness

All I know is that if matter can never be destroyed

Where do we go?
