Where The Grass Grows Tall

I want to leave this place

Leave my mind

And with a whisper

Spirit myself away on some primordial want

As the plants want the rain

Or birds long for the open skies.

I want to breathe again;

Feel the collective souls of trillions of past lives,

Kin in that we are of the same maker,

Flow through me

Driving a hole through my heart.

I want to take a steam train

Born out of the eastern shores

Dragging itself into the plains of America

And across where the grass grows tall.

I want to be that man.

I want to feel something new,

Something one could never get

From staying home.
