Where have our words gone?

Location

Where have our words gone?

We lack the pen to write

Stop standing for what’s right

No language left to fight

Afraid that we just might

Lose our poet’s sight

We’ve yet to feel contrite

Start walking toward the light

Before we fall to night.

Where have our words gone?

Will and Edgar in their graves

Hoping now that something saves

The voice that stands and paves

The road through all the waves

So we stop acting like slaves

To this tongue that misbehaves

Don’t live like men in caves

Where have our words gone?

What this is about?

Start searching—forget doubt

Release your lungs and shout

Our language in a drought

Waiting for syllables to spout

Along a different route

This lexicon I’ll tout

Until we can find out….

Where have our words gone?
