Where I Am From

I am from love Failure and fortune Trial and error From tears of sadness… and joy I am from the sharp point A penetrating needle, invading my skin From a soft white blanket covering my head From the warmth of my mother To the beautiful faces of new places Why, I don’t know all I can say is I’m home I am from the magic of storybooks From the horrid phrase I said in those days I Hate You I am from foreign seasons From my hand pressed against a window of all temperatures From the shimmering minerals in water To the loud crash of opposing forces -water and tire From the cycle of rain into snow From the treasured moment of that magic white dust visiting us I am from the breeze fluttering like a free soul From the opening of presents on a bitter sweet day From the makeshift snowman And from the images that floated around in my head I am from the sweet perfume of a loving teacher Comforting and teaching me the lessons of life From the notes colliding and stressing my goal I know my place in life I am from the happiness that never stays From the big and small tongues that licked my face From the furry coat I stroked day after day From that fateful day when they ran or passed away From the genuine recollections I hold, and remember From moments that could never have been captured I am from opinions and the formations of my own From the packed world of words From the unique shadows put on this world From the makings of my own From the dreams that haven’t come into existence… and never will I am from the spirit that guides me From the birds flying to the south I know they’ll come back What a depressing metaphor I am from a tall majestic building From the unknown spirit inside From the lessons unknown From the wonders and worries that overcame me I am from death stabbing at my mind I don’t know when Everyone dies… But why I am from the clicking of the keys From the failure I have realized There is no hope now I’m in a hurry From the twisted sadness I have never, but now know I am from depression and music From the steps I took for granted From the realization of love From the tears coming and going I don’t want the music to disappear I don’t want this to be the last goodby I am from indescribable facial movements From a hug of solitude and hope From a wave of my hand From a jolt in my memory From those last fateful words I Didn’t Want To Go I am from needs, though they are not great But I want to see Pictures come to life I want to see Tina Hadley Grandma Gloria
