Where I am From Poem
I am from the deep South
from Mississippi
and Magnolia State
I am from Greenville
desolate now yet, a potential diamond in the rough
It sounds of droning cicadas and high-pitch buzzin' mosquitos
I am from the sweet honeysuckle and itchy poison ivy
the fierce unforgiving fire ants and a good cool breeze
I'm from the Yes Ma'ams with No Ma'ams
Thank Yous too!
Continuous prayer that helps us all get through
from Lee Ester, Willie, Big Daddy and M’Dear
I'm From the Hardworking Men and Strong Women
From "You can do all things through Christ" and "Today is the day the Lord has made"
I'm from grace before eating, easter speeches
I'm from the Delta, cornbread and pinto beans
From gospel singing in Mimi's kitchen
the frequent requests of ice "watah" from Papa.
I am from a strong family foundation, with southern mannerisms, and hospitality.
