Where I Come From

Where I grew up,

hope was a privilege reserved for those who had never had a gun pointed at them.

Where I grew up,

talk was cheap unless you had the crew to back it up.

Where I grew up,

every day was a challenge;

every death-another statistic.

Where I grew up,

sleepless night were a given, but making it home to bed was an accomplishment.

This is where I come from.
