Where I'm From

I am from sunflowers,

from rocking horses and Beanie Babies.

I am from the adventurous woods,

and home cooked meals.

I am from the apple tree,

whose branches were our dream home.

I am from the corn and the sunlight,

from Calvin and Arlis.

I am from sewing and singing songs,

and from gathering around the fire to read a Bible verse,

from helping prepare the holiday meals.

I am from the book of God,

1 John 4:19 - We love him, because he first loved us.

I am from Ray and Mary Ann,

from cheese buttons to pumpkin pie,

from waking to the smell of coffee at grandma’s house,

and from riding in the tractor with grandpa.

I am from those moments where the corn and sunlight come together to become stronger.
