Where I'm From?

I am from a tan house, a tree & white gates

From the Caribbean household with dishes like oxtail & rice and peas

I am from a home of noise

From that sketch book in that top draw, this brings out my creativity

I am from that iPod dock, which plays my favorite songs

From that camera on the kitchen counter, this captures my favorite moments

I am from a house with my little sister Lauren, aunt Kelsie, & little brother Logan

From traditions of staying together

I am from where thanksgiving isn’t just about food, but giving thanks for one another

From saying’s like “Misery loves Company”

I’m from a family where “struggle” means to push harder through challenges.

I’m from most valuable & cherished memories

From spending the day in the movies with my dad & older sisters

I’m from Brooklyn, cold on this January day

From people wearing coats, boots, scarves & hats to stay warm

I'm from Brooklyn!

I'm from Brooklyn!
