Where I'm From

Location

I am from raindrops

From dreams, from sights

I am from bland walls streaked with white

Where you can still see the bricks [its structure] underneath

Strips of paint pulling away from the wall makes you realize what true feelings are

I am from the elm tree

Big and strong

Or maybe that's just what others see

Like wind rushing by, they don't really see me

I am from stories of way back when

Where the truth never seems to be told in full

I am from trust and believe and never judge a book by its cover

Where deceit runs amuck, right there, but still uncovered

I am from nominal Christians

From a generation where trust and loyalty are just tattoos

I am from a photo album

Now ash sitting under the rubble in the furnace

I am from feelings left unspoken

I am from these memories

Trapped in my heart
