Where I'm From
I am from a Box,
From uniforms and rules.
I am from the fire in a pit.
(Red, burning,
It felt like rage.)
I am from a long list of chores
The house
Which had me drowning in pain
As if it were the last thing I did.
I am from cake and chicken
From Froatle and Chef
I’m from the over-achievers
And the nerds,
From Cheer Up! And It’s one less day.
I’m from He has a plan for you
You just need to trust him
And things get better with time.
I’m from two rooms in a school,
Strong coffee and different lunches
From the life my grandmother lost
To the battle,
The trust I lost in everyone else.
On my bookshelf was a frame
Filled with old memories,
Of happy times
To remind me not all is bad.
I am from those moments - -
Pushed after I destroyed - -
Parents’ dream of the perfect family
