Where I'm From

I am from cellphones

from Droids and Iphones

I am from the flowers in the garden

pink, and short

It looked like a flamingo

I am from the magnolia tree

the pine tree

Whose flowers drifted in the wind

I'm from the beach and eyeglasse

from Dana and Earl

and Connie

I'm from the know-it-alls and

the stand offs

From study hard and

be smart

I'm from God's church

where he washed my sins away

I'm from Georgia,

fried chicken and sweet tea

From the toes my father lost to the lawnmower,

the battle of cancer my aunt lost,

the pictures scattered around the wall

I am from those memories which are told at night.
